Pamir Highway tour along Tajikistan Kyrgyzstan Travel the Pamir Highway between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan for an incredible driving journey throughout Central Asia.  This 8-day journey will show you the tremendous diversity of culture, art, and nature found along the Silk Road route while providing transportation, accomadation and food. Among other once-in-a-lifetime experiences, you will explore historic temples and fortifications, take a dip in a hot spring, walk pilgrimage routes to shrines atop mountains, and witness the way of life of nomadic yak herders.

Day 1: Arrival in Dushanbe

Welcome to Tajikistan! The driver will pick up the airport in Dushanbe. Full day excursion program in Dushanbe. You will visit Tajik National Museum, Tajik flagpole, The main square of Dushanbe, Mehrgon Bazaar and Gissar Fortress. Transfer to the hotel . Overnight.

Day 2: Dushanbe - Kalakhumb

Breakfast. 09:00 Meet the guide at the lobby. You will depart to depart to Pamir Mountains by start the journey to Kalaikhumb via Kulyab. Final destination is a small town Kalai Khumb on the Panj River. You can observe the lifestyle of Tadjik people and spectacular views of Pamir highway. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Kalakhumb – Khorog

Breakfast. 09:00 Meet the guide at the lobby. Drive to Khorog which a small mountain valley town. Your way lies along the Panj River that marks the border with Afghanistan. You will have a chance to see Afghanistan across the river. Arrival in Khorog where you will visit the Botanical garden . There are more than 17000 trees, fruits, bushes and other species planted in this garden. Transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Khorog – Ishkashim

Breakfast. 09:00 Meet the guide at the lobby. You will travel along Wakhan valley. You will visit Garm Chashma and ruby mines of Kuhi Lal in Khorog . Later depart to Ishkashim. Continue up the north side of the river with amazing views of the Pamirs to the left and the Hindu Kush to the right. If you arrive to Ishkashim on Saturday, you will have a chance to see the border Tajik-Afghan market on the Afghan side. It is not required Afghan visa to cross to the market. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 5: Ishkashim – Langar

Breakfast. 09:00 Meet the guide at the lobby. Drive to Langar. You will visit Kah-Kaha in Namadgut which is one of the old fortresses on the Silk Road by the way to Langar. Then continue to the Museum of Sufi Muborak-Kadami Vakhani. You will also visit Buddhist Stupa in Vrang and hot spring of Bibi Fatima Zahra, and ruins of Yamchun Fortress which guarded once Pamir branch of the Great Silk Road. Overnight at homestay.

Day 6: Langar – Murgab

Breakfast. 09:00 Meet the guide. You will tour to petroglyphs. There are more than 600 rock carvings made by prehistoric people lying under the open sky in that area. Continue to Khargush, source of Amu Darya River. Cross the road via pass Khargush. Pass Nayza-Tash. Arrive in Murgab. Overnight at homestay.

Day 7: Murgab – Karakul Lake – Sary-Tash – Osh

Breakfast. 07:00 Meet the guide. Transfer to Karakul lake. The views of mountains and glaciers along the way are breath-taking as the road takes us to the Ak-Baital Pass. which is real “The Roof of the World” and the hidden site in this expanse of arid landscape is the stunning Karakul Lake. You will cross Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan border point via Kyzylart and Taldyk Passes to Osh in Kyrgyzstan. Arrive at border check point. Meet your Kyrgyzstan driver and head to Sary-Tash. Transfer to Osh. Transfer to hotel or airport.
